Cerebral Contusion/Hematoma
Area of focal injury with deficit depending upon area injured
Often occur in coupe-contra coup pattern, eg frontal and occipital
20% of contusions expand into surgical hematoma
Observe patient in ICU, repeat CT scan within 24 hours. Monitor ICP unless patient is conscious and cooperative.
