How do you find the right program?
  • Rather than try and list all of the programs we have heard or know about, here are four paths you may choose to travel in your quest to find the ultimate international experience:
    • Word of Mouth and Student Evaluations
      • Upon returning from an international experience, we require all med students who received funding from us to submit a brief, one-page description and evaluation of their respective programs. To see a list of students' evaluations, click here.
    • The Internet
      • It’s fast; it’s enormous; it’s an excellent resource. It can also be overwhelming and misleading if you don’t know what you’re looking for.
      • IHMEC the International Health Medical Education Consortium. They are a prominent group and keep a regularly updated list of programs.
    • The File in the Dean’s Office
      • Over the years, we’ve compiled a stack of brochures and descriptions from various programs. Ask Margie in the Dean’s Office if you’d like to peruse our collection. Please make copies rather than borrowing the originals!
    • IHMEC Listserv
      • The IHMEC Listserv is an open forum for members to share expertise and information about various international programs and opportunities. As an Institutional Member of IHMEC, the University has full access to this valuable resource.
      • To post a question on the Listserv, contact Dr, Hale or the UMED International MSIV co-president.
