CO-PRESIDENT
Two fourth-year medical student who are full voting member of the Utah
Medical Association's Board of Trustees, providing input to the Board with
respect to issues of concern to medical students. Also, they are delegates
to the UMA House, representing medical student concerns to this policy-making
body. In addition, these officers plan and coordinate all the activities
of the AMA-MSS, including formulation of annual budget, registration with
ASUU and organization of officer elections in April of each year.
CO-PRESIDENT ELECT
Two third-year medical students who serves as AMA-MSS representatives
at Salt Lake County Medical Society Executive Committee meetings, providing
input for the student members of the Salt Lake County Medical Society.
This student is also a delegate to the UMA House.
VICE PRESIDENT
A second-year medical student who coordinates Fall orientation recruitment
efforts and is responsible for the noon-time bagel-lunch seminars. This
student also coordinates the Suture Clinic program for freshmen and sophomores.
UMPAC COMMITTEE MEMBER
Student in any class (three to five depending on section membership)
who attends UMPAC Committee meetings and brings an agenda from the medical
students to state medical politics. This student also reports state political
activities back to the students.
UMA DELEGATE
These students (ten to twenty depending on section membership) are
voting members of the UMA House of Delegates, which meets annually in conjunction
with the UMA annual meetings. An alternate delegate should be selected
for each seat so that fill representation is given during the meetings.
AMA-MSS DELEGATE
Two students (MSII - MSIV) who have attended a national mtg. prior to running
for office. One delegate attends the national convention for the AMA-MSS, held
simultaneously with the AMA national convention in June of each year in Chicago.
The second delegate attends the interim meeting held in the Fall a different
location each year. The UMA will fund expenses to this convention and to the
section conference in the Fall.
AMA-MSS ALTERNATE DELEGATE
Two students (usually a first years) who accompany the AMA-MSS delegate to one
of the national conferences (see AMA-MSS Delegate) in order to become
familiar with conference proceedings and assume the delegate’s responsibilities
if he/she is unable to attend. The alternate delegate’s expenses are also funded
by the UMA.
